The Quarter Notes have been working very hard on their gifts for their mother's this weekend!. Each day they are ecstatic to create gifts for their mom. The colors they chose and their final touches are breathtaking. Our class also read Baby Penguins Love Their Mama! by Melissa Guion and My Mama Is A Mechanic, which talks about the various careers a mother can have such as a chemist, architect, or surgeon.

Mr. Perry added an excellent addition to the Quarter Notes’ sports routine this week: biking! Bike riding is pertinent in improving gross motor skills by working on coordination, but it is also beneficial for our leg muscles and brain. The children loved riding on their bikes and in their cars. Additionally, he introduced a classic game, "Duck Duck Goose," which the children were thrilled to play. He also had the class use the Parachute. This was an exciting, yet critical component in the development of our Suzuki Star Athletes!

In Music this week with Miss Lisa, the children were welcomed with Vivaldi’s Spring from The Four Seasons. We sang our morning song and replied as we passed the ball to each student who sang, "Here I Am.” Additionally, the Quarter Notes completed an exercise with cards that helped them master and differentiate between whole notes, half notes, quarter notes and sixteenth notes!

In Mandarin, Miss Lily discussed the weather. The children learned how to discuss cloudy and sunny weather. The children also played 'Spin the Color Wheel, " a game that allows every student to name a color in Mandarin when the wheel stops by Snoopy's nose. The student’s learned new vocabulary, such as flowers, birds, and monkeys, and we sang a song about the rain.

This week, the Quarter Notes had a wonderful visitor from Puddle Stompers, a company that works with children ages of two to nine. Puddle Stompers focuses on exploring nature and the outdoors. During our visit from Puddle Stompers, our class was able to view slug eggs on our very own Suzuki campus! The children were taught about how rabbits build their nests and how to recognize other signs of rabbits at Suzuki. In addition, we learned new vocabulary relating to rabbits, such as “warren,” which is a rabbit’s burrow. In fact, we found one at our school!! We also learned the word "kit," a word that refers to a baby rabbit.

Outside the children enjoyed playing with new toys, tussling in the sandbox, and talking and laughing with friends. The Quarter Notes are vibrant and love each other's company!

We wish you a wonderful Mother's Day and hope to see all of you at the first annual Newton Multicultural Festival in which all of the classes will have their artwork displayed!

Warmly,

Dana
