This week marked the end of our school year at Suzuki with our precious, talented, and kind quarter note class. It has been a privilege to be their teacher and I thank all of you for entrusting your children in my care.  For those who will not be continuing at Suzuki we will miss you dearly. For those who are staying, we will welcome you into our Half Notes in the fall! This week, our quarter notes continued to work on their very special Father's Day gifts. They added gems, watercolors, letters, and personal touches for their dads. We used fine motor skills when peeling of alphabet stickers to spell our names. The quarter notes have loved adding every part to each card, specially knowing it would be a surprise for their dad! In Mandarin this week, the quarter notes worked on a memory game. They identified strawberries, grapes, hamburgers, french fries, watermelon and grapes! We also sang the song Head, shoulders, Knees, and Toes, finishing with a discussion about the weather. ...

The Quarter Notes have been very busy this week preparing for Father's Day! They delved into making handmade projects, which include crafting projects, and decorating by adding stickers, painting, and perfecting their art. These enjoyable Father’s Day art pieces will not only please Dad, but they will assist in strengthening their fine motor skills! It is an exciting time of family celebration and the smiles on the Quarter Note’s faces are bright and glowing! In Sports this week, Mr. Perry worked diligently on several parts of an obstacle course. He set up several stations for the Quarter notes, which include cars, bikes, and an area to work with tools! The children loved sports so much this week, they did not want sports class to end! In Music this week with Miss Lisa, The Quarter Notes worked on instrument recognition. Our students immediately recognized the trumpet, the piano, and the oboe. We listened to Peter and the wolf, and identified the wolf as the French Horn and the cat...

This week, the Quarter Notes continued their "Under the Sea" unit. Our week began with a discussion about what we know about Starfish. Eventually, we learned that they are not actually fish! In fact, starfish are carnivores and they are found in all of the world's oceans. We painted our starfish with blue and purple paints, and added glitter! Next, we worked on our black and white whales. We painted them many shades of blue and added final touches while learning about orcas! In music this week, Miss Lisa went over important violin positions, such as knowing where your feet are placed, which immeasurably improves performance. These are essential parts of playing the violin. Miss Lisa also continued with identifying instruments with a fun and interactive game.                                                                  ...

This week, the Quarter Notes have been busy exploring under the sea, releasing ladybugs into nature, learning about the violin and exploring our amazing sports program outside! One of our first under the sea creatures we learned about was the dolphin, which is classified as Cetacea. They are extremely intelligent and curious creatures. Our class enjoyed mixing black and white paint to formulate the beautiful gray shades of the dolphin                                                                                                              We also made our very own octopi! We learned that an octopus has eight legs and that "oct" means eight. The Quarter Notes enjoyed painting, observing other paintings, and...
